Summer Film Camp
TOAST Summer Film Camp is the only place in the city where students can get a comprehensive, interactive, and in-depth experience in film. The combination of education and experience makes it something truly amazing. You don't just learn about films - you make one. Film theory, ideas, and themes are all great - and you will learn those things - but without real experience you can only learn so much. This is what makes Summer Film Camp so special.
What
We will be working in two teams to create four movies. You will be cast in one movie with a principle or supporting role, and then you will be on crew for the other movie. You will learn acting for the camera, production aspects, and have the overall experience of creating a real movie. There will be a showing of the film at the end of the camp in September. The workshop fee is $250.00 per student. This fee goes towards production costs associated with making a film. You will also be fed on shoot days, get a Camp T-Shirt, and a copy of the films on DVD. Also, if you are interested in submitting a screenplay, please contact Chad Weddle with your pitch. The films will be one of three categories: 30 minute short film (narrative), half hour television sitcom pilot, half hour television drama pilot.
Who
Any student who is interested in film can apply. There is a 40 person limit to th camp, so sign up early and have all your paperwork and money to Mr. Weddle ASAP. Once the workshop fills up, that will be it. (We must have 24 person minimum to have camp). A huge component of the film camp is for those interested in acting and Summer Film Camp is the only place in the city you can get experience acting for the camera.
